Ingenuity Announces Performance Lineup for 14th Annual IngenuityFest: FuturePast, September 28-30, 2018

Cleveland, OH (September 10th, 2018) – Ingenuity Cleveland is thrilled to announce its music lineup for this year’s IngenuityFest, Cleveland’s longest running festival of art and technology. With musical acts from all around the world, the 2018 Festival aims to be the most intriguing to date, and provide Cleveland with a collection of the most impressive musical features in the festival’s recent history.

IngenuityFest 2018 will be held at its year-round home in The Hamilton Collaborative (located at 5401 Hamilton Ave). The event will be a bustling 3 days full of surprising talent, featuring headlining sets from rising superstars OSHUN from Washington, DC (Friday), the dimension-defying Squonk Opera from Pittsburgh, PA (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), and the always amazing Dressy Bessy from Denver, CO (Saturday). Equally intriguing performers include: Mourning [A] BLKstar (Cleveland, OH) Illuminati Hotties (Los Angeles, CA), Champagne Superchillin’ (Brooklyn, NY, by way of France), Saint Sister (Dublin, Ireland), Herzog (Cleveland, OH), EYE (Columbus, OH), The Burning Peppermints (Birmingham, AL), and a nightly dance party featuring collaborations and new music from some of Cleveland and Akron’s most exciting new DJs and producers including Muséus Project and Mind.e.

Going into its 14th Festival year, Ingenuity announced earlier this year that the 2018 Festival theme is “FuturePast”. The theme was chosen to celebrate the return of cherished traditions melded with the drive towards progress, forging a reimagined future of community, localism, and human-centered technologies. It represents a homecoming in many ways: the former industrial facility reawakening with new art and manufacturing, whimsical ideation, and a hum of imagination from the many renaissance thinkers who call the Hamilton Collaborative home.

“I’m incredibly proud of this year’s music schedule. It’s one of the most diverse, unique, and engaging lineups our city has seen in a while and I can’t wait to showcase these artists from around the world who are creating distinctive art experiences,” says James Carol (of Cleveland Music City), head of music booking for IngenuityFest.”

Artistic Director Emily Appelbaum commented, “We’re thrilled to welcome back Ingenuity Favorites Squonk Opera, a regional treasure that truly embodies the intersection of art and technology, and specifically this year’s theme of Future/Past. Our music lineup compliments a robust selection of other multimedia performance exhibiting the diversity and excitement of Cleveland’s movement landscape. Offerings include IngenuityLabs’ own sci-fi performance group Astrocelt; NEOS Dance Theater; aerial dance and acrobatics from Be Studio and Shanty Circus; The Adverb Project of Verb Ballets, Tribe Ostara, Stratosphere, and a performance collaboration with Glo Cleveland. The Ingenuity Cabaret will return feature a range of local and variety acts, including The Manhattan Project Cleveland Lab performance group, while the brand new Time Travelers Tavern will be a place to relax to jazz and spoken word. Additionally, MorrisonDance will present the newest version of its ground-breaking vertical dance collaboration with Ingenuity, entitled DancEscapes of the Future/Past.”
