Virtually INGenious!

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with 48 Hour Virtual Music Fest CLE to bring you Virtually INGenious! On September 25-27, 48+ bands, performers, artists, and innovators will join us on Facebook Live to ignite the creative spark in support of IngenuityLabs. We'll feature some of our own Ingeneers, projects by some of our favorite Ignite! Impact Award winners, and of course enjoy music from a wide range of local 48-Hour Favorites, plus a few special guests and surprise headliners.
Musical guests will range from singer-songwriters to full bands to a few off-beat late-night selections. Plus, see snapshots of #VoicesofCLE, hear from some of our sponsors, and join a panel discussion or two! Read on to learn more!

Save Our Stages Panel (w/ Cleveland Venue Managers)

It's no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic has turned the arts & culture sector upside down. Venues are closed, employees are struggling, programming has halted. During the 48-hour festival, we will be talking to some of Cleveland's best and brightest venue managers, like Gabe Pollack of the Bop Stop, about what happens now.

In Gabe's Own Words:
"Music venues were the first to close and the last to reopen. I don't think that operating with the current restrictions in place even counts as being reopened, as it is impossible to cover costs. Music venues are in the business of bringing people together and that is something that we can't really do these days. Venues across the country lit up red on 9/2 to bring attention to these issues as part of Red Alert Restart."

Inclusion & Equity in Making and Innovation

Ash O'Connor, the founder of Made Cleveland, has long been an advocate for artists, small businesses, community, and sustainability. Currently, Ash is focused on several projects which aim to move the needle in order to improve the creative economy. Key among them is focusing on intentional inclusivity for underrepresented artists in the marketplace.
We are working with Ash to develop a panel of makers, innovators, and artists to participate in a Zoom roundtable about increasing inclusion and equity across the maker landscape.

Who is Behind 48 Hour Vitural Music Fest CLE?

48 Hour Virtual Music Fest CLE was created by Meganne Stepka in March 2020, about a week after quarantine began in Ohio. Meg felt a strong need to sustain Cleveland's creative community in any way she could. She wanted to create a blanket of positive content, and an opportunity to share in our amazing local creative community; alone-together but aglow together!
By creating a marathon of artists performing live-online back to back all weekend, Meg created a network of support and shared experiences that connects all those participating - performers and audience members alike.
In Meg's Own Words:
"I saw people who were not usually up late at night scrolling through Facebook feeling anxious and seeing & sharing content that reinforced the worry and the unknown. I wanted to create a blanket of positive content, and an opportunity to share in our amazing local creative community; alone-together but aglow together! I also wanted to create an outlet and a way to empower artists to get techy with it and raise tips and donations by live-streaming their valuable artform, because so many, including myself were losing gigs at an exponential rate. Bringing 48 separate people together on a shareable list, all playing in one weekend, in one event page created mini-communities at a time when we needed to find new ways to connect and participate in celebrating something good in the world.
I have volunteered, performed, and collaborated with Ingenuity over the years and I am excited to partner with this organization in September. I love working with the team who represent & define the organization and their visions."
