The Maker Movement
Wondering what a ‘maker’ is? Haven’t heard of the ‘Maker Movement’? Let’s clear this up: a maker is defined as a creator, an artist, a hobbyist, a tinkerer, a scientist, technologist, engineer, and everything in between. Somebody who…well…makes things!
Since 2013, Ingenuity Cleveland has partnered with Cleveland Public Library to bring you the Cleveland Mini Maker Faire, a place where, according to the gurus over at MAKE media,
“makers have created their own market ecosystem, developing new products and services . The combination of ingenious makers and innovative technologies such as the Arduino microcontroller and personal 3D printing are driving innovation in manufacturing, engineering, industrial design, hardware technology and education. . . . Many makers are hobbyists, enthusiasts or students (amateurs!)–but they are also a wellspring of innovation, creating new products and producing value in the community. Some makers even become entrepreneurs and start companies.”
Ingenuity promotes a variety of Maker initiatives across town – stay tuned for more information on our upcoming programs!
