For Immediate Release

Cleveland, OH – (March 16, 2015) Ingenuity announced today that Emily Appelbaum has joined
the team as their new Program Director. A native of Cleveland returning from several years
spent in the Bay Area, Emily is a Yale graduate with a degree in architecture who brings a
wealth of experience and industry knowledge. She has worked as a designer, builder,
community organizer and project manager on large scale collaborative projects for events like
Burning Man and Coachella, and at American Steel Studios, an art and business incubator
based in Oakland. After moving back to Cleveland last year, Emily has been consulting with
LAND studio and BriteWinter Festival.

“I believe that Ingenuity is a spark that can ignite Cleveland — for years, we’ve activated spaces
both known and unknown. We have the power to continue generating change as an incubator
and ambassador for the new Cleveland. In the coming months and years, I am excited to build
upon our community partnerships, create access to industry and resources, foster the creation
of new content and ideas, & ultimately leave behind a positive and enduring legacy,” said
Appelbaum.

Paula Grooms, Ingenuity’s Executive Director said, “We are thrilled to have Emily on board – her
enthusiasm and passion is contagious and her vision for Ingenuity’s future as a collaborator,
convener, and presenter is on par with what we’ve been talking about internally.”
